  3. Personnel Updates

In today's Church as in life, every season is a season of change. Even in the months of summer, the eddies and currents of our stories draw us into new ways of forming ourselves as communities of belonging. Today I write to share news of three changes which are unfolding in the VST community.

  4. Dr. Richard Leggett:
The Reverend Dr. Richard Leggett has served as professor and priest at VST for 23 years. At this point in his career he wishes to explore other ministry options which have sparked his creative imagination. As such, Richard will take early retirement as a professor at the School. After his sabbatical he will not return to a full-time teaching role at VST. However, I am happy to announce that he has been named Emeritus Professor of Liturgical Studies and will continue to companion the VST community in that capacity as we move forward. We express our appreciation to Richard for all that he has contributed to our shared life over many years, and look forward to his continued presence with us in a new capacity. Retirement celebrations for Richard will be linked to Convocation next year, as VST celebrates its 40th Anniversary year.
    Corinne Rogers:
As many of you know, Corinne began graduate work in archival studies some years ago, graduating with her Masters in the spring of 2009. Last fall she began a PhD in archival studies at UBC. Corinne has been juggling work and school for several years now. However, the demands of her program require her to reduce the amount of time she spends on VST responsibilities. As such, from September 1st Corinne will work 1.5 days a week at VST. She will maintain an office in the Iona Building and will post VST office hours three mornings a week. We support her decision and wish her well in her studies.

    Julie Lees:
Julie has worked with VST over the past two years, half-time, in recruitment and marketing She has done a fabulous job opening up great new directions for us in this area. However, Julie is also a VST student preparing for Order of Ministry in the United Church of Canada. Increasingly it has been difficult to manage both responsibilities. As such, Julie has decided to resign from her work at VST, so that she can give herself fully to her VST studies. We support her in her decision and thank her for her significant contribution to our well-being. We will have a cake to wish Julie well on August 26 at 11:30 in the rotunda.

Please join me in supporting our friends as they move into a new era in their personal journeys, and as we walk newly as a community re-configured.

I wish you summer rest and in the spaces, fun!
